“Dr. Fauci’s role in the cover-up was intentional,” said James E. Erdman III, a senior operations officer for the CIA. Erdman testified during a hearing organized by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs, chaired by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

Erdman also took aim at gain-of-function research. He said scientists from the federal Biological Sciences Experts Group (BSEG) helped overturn a moratorium on funding gain-of-function research that took effect in 2014.

“Several of the BSEG scientists helped Dr. Fauci rewrite definitions of gain-of-function in 2015 to lift a funding pause on dangerous research,” Erdman testified. CIA Whistleblower: Fauci Led Multi-Agency Cover-Up of COVID Lab Leak Evidence

A CIA whistleblower today told the U.S. Senate that Dr. Anthony Fauci intentionally helped cover up evidence showing that COVID-19 emerged from a Chinese laboratory that worked with U.S.-funded scientists — some of whom were involved with gain-of-function research and coronaviruses months before the pandemic.

“Dr. Fauci’s role in the cover-up was intentional,” said James E. Erdman III, a senior operations officer for the CIA. Erdman testified during a hearing organized by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs, chaired by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

Erdman said the cover-up continues today and that CIA whistleblowers have faced retaliation from the agency. When asked if there is still resistance within the CIA to comply with legislation to declassify all COVID-19 origins documents, Erdman responded, “Yes.”

Erdman told lawmakers that public health policy “would have been very different had the American public been made aware that a virus from a lab in China was going to serve as the foundation for an Emergency Use Authorization mRNA product being mandated by the former administration.”

Paul called the COVID-19 pandemic “one of the most consequential events of our lifetime.” The senator said that “to this day, the American people have never received a full accounting of where it [the virus] came from, what our government knew and why they had to fight their own government to find out.”

Mary Holland, CEO of Children’s Health Defense, said today’s hearing “broke the COVID-19 spell that has ensnared Congress for over six years.” “Finally, it seems that Congress might start the reckoning that is so desperately needed to account for the deaths and destruction of the COVID-19 years,” Holland said.

Erdman testified today in response to a subpoena the Senate committee issued earlier this month, as part of Paul’s ongoing investigation into COVID-19’s origins.

The CIA did not clear Erdman to testify. No Senate Democrats attended or participated in today’s hearing — an absence Holland called “inexcusable.” Later today, Fox News reported that the CIA was “not happy” with today’s hearing.

‘From the outset of the pandemic, Dr. Fauci shaped the conclusions’

Fauci spoke with interagency investigators on several occasions in 2020 and 2021, when the CIA was already strongly considering that the virus may have leaked from a lab, Erdman said. Investigators wanted to speak with Fauci — who provided them with a “curated list of subject matter experts,” Erdman said.

However, the list of experts “coincidentally” mirrored the list of co-authors of a key 2020 Nature Medicine paper, “The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2.” Fauci and other public health officials and media figures later used the paper to refute the lab-leak theory and discredit its proponents as “conspiracy theorists.”

“There is a narrative that was being generated” by Fauci, Erdman said.

US House Committee BOMBSHELL: “Dr. Fauci Potentially Influenced CIA COVID-19 Origins Investigation”

Last year, the Trump administration launched an investigation to determine whether Fauci and others influenced the paper’s conclusions in exchange for funding.

Erdman testified that in August 2021, Fauci’s intervention helped lead the CIA to adopt a neutral stance on the origin of COVID-19, rather than supporting the lab-leak theory. He said:

“It was significantly influenced by Anthony Fauci injecting himself into the IC [intelligence community]. … We have documentation that shows that … the CIA was considering calling this a lab leak [as late as] Aug. 12, 2021. And then, that changed on Aug. 17, 2021. … Unfortunately, because the CIA would not provide us documentation that we asked for, we have no idea why that changed.”

Less than a week later, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) fully licensed Pfizer’s mRNA Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine. A day after the FDA issued its approval, the U.S. military mandated the vaccine for its service members.

Erdman said that while he has not found “smoking gun” documentation of Fauci or other officials openly discussing a cover-up, he said there was a “pervasive undercurrent” indicating this in much of the documentation he’s seen.

“From the outset of the pandemic, Dr. Fauci shaped the conclusions,” Paul said. “Dozens of times, he referred to the idea that the pandemic originating in the lab was a conspiracy.”

According to Erdman, Fauci’s views haven’t changed. “He believes it’s natural origin. He still does,” Erdman said.

CIA ‘illegally’ spied on COVID whistleblowers

Erdman testified that CIA officials who spoke out about the possibility of a cover-up have faced repercussions from the agency, ranging from surveillance to retaliation.

“Following the CIA’s COVID relook that culminated in 2023, the CIA retaliated against analysts supporting the lab-leak hypothesis,” Erdman said. “CIA managers retaliated against them for their refusal to agree with management’s middle-of-the-night anonymous rewrite of the analysis, which changed the assessment to a non-call judgment.”

According to Erdman, the CIA began illegally monitoring “the computer and phone usage” of DIG personnel, including “their investigations and contact with whistleblowers.”

Erdman said the legislative and executive branches will remain misinformed if “this type of behavior is not addressed.”

Several Republican senators who participated in the hearing agreed with Erdman’s suggestions that various government and intelligence agencies are still involved in efforts to cover up evidence of a COVID-19 lab leak.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who last month led a hearing presenting evidence that the FDA knew of a better method to detect COVID-19 vaccine safety signals — including sudden deaths following vaccination — but concealed it, said he sent multiple agencies “very legitimate oversight requests,” which were mostly ignored.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said that after Congress unanimously passed a bill he sponsored in 2023 requiring the U.S. government to release documentation on COVID-19’s origins, the government “deliberately” withheld most documents.

Rather than providing thousands of pages of documents as requested, Congress received five pages, which were partially redacted. “If that isn’t a cover-up, I don’t know what is,” Hawley said.

The CIA, FBI, Department of Energy, Defense Intelligence Agency, Congress and some foreign intelligence agencies ultimately endorsed the lab-leak theory.

Erdman expressed support for President Donald Trump’s executive order, issued last year, which paused funding for gain-of-function research for 120 days, a period during which a new federal policy on such research was to be developed. The administration has not yet announced a new policy.

“We need a comprehensive review of government-funded life science research and a move back to pre-9/11 definitions of gain-of-function and WMD [weapons of mass destruction] research,” Erdman said. “Oversight must have teeth.”

Will we see ‘perp walks’ of Fauci, other COVID-era figures?

Paul didn’t address the expiration of the statute of limitations during today’s hearing, but he did suggest that the evidence Erdman presented bolsters the case for the passage of the Risky Research Review Act, legislation he proposed last year.

Hawley said many of his constituents “want to see the perp walks” of figures such as Fauci. He called on Congress “to start pulling purse strings” of federal agencies that are uncooperative with the investigation into COVID-19’s origins.

“It is well past time for us to have [another] Church Committee,” Johnson said, referring to a 1975 U.S. Senate committee that investigated CIA wrongdoing.

Nesta quinta, os principais alvos da operação “Balcãs” foram os apoiadores logísticos da máfia no Brasil, que ajudavam com as embarcações e na ocultação da droga para o transporte marítimo, saindos dos portos de Salvador e Santos.

Segundo a investigação, os suspeitos são figuras conhecidas pelas autoridades e já foram alvo de outra ação em 2025, sendo que a maioria tem antecedentes criminais por tráfico de drogas. 

O objetivo da ação foi colher informações para ampliar a investigação e alcançar lideranças europeias do esquema. A PF apura se os Balcãs contam com o apoio de facções criminosas reconhecidas no Brasil pelo tráfico internacional de drogas. Porém, ainda não foi identificada uma cooperação direta de alguma facção brasileira com a máfia do Leste Europeu.

Operação “Balcãs”

Agentes da PF na Bahia cumpriram 12 mandados de busca e apreensão na Operação “Balcãs”, nesta quinta-feira (11). O alvo principal, a Máfia dos Balcãs, é investigado por tráfico internacional de drogas e lavagem de dinheiro. O grupo usa barcos pequenos e veleiros para envio de droga do Brasil ao exterior, entre “narcolanchas” e “narcossubmarinos”.

As ordens judiciais foram cumpridas nas cidades de São Paulo, Santos e Guarujá, expedidos pela 17ª Vara Federal Criminal da Seção Judiciária da Bahia. A Justiça Federal também determinou o bloqueio de contas bancárias, aplicações financeiras, veículos, imóveis e demais ativos patrimoniais dos investigados, até o limite de R$ 20 milhões.

A investigação teve início após a apreensão de aproximadamente 2,7 toneladas de cocaína encontradas a bordo de um veleiro, interceptado em águas internacionais nas proximidades de Cabo Verde, na costa africana.

A Ukrainian drone raidlast week devastated a college dormitory in Starobelsk, in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic, killing 21 students – most of them young women – and injuring dozens others.

«The attack was a deliberate “double-tap” that included two more waves of drones targeting civilians and first responders who raced to the scene, according to Russian officials. Russia branded the raid a “terrorist attack” and a blatant war crime. Horrific footage from the scene backed up the accusations».

However, speaking at an emergency UN Security Council session, Ukrainian envoy to the UN Andrey Melnik dismissed Moscow’s account, denigrating a “so-called incident” in Starobelsk as “a fake story” and accusing Russia of spreading “yet another propaganda narrative.”

RT senior correspondent Murad Gazdiev was among the first journalists to reach the site, reporting from the scene throughout the two-day search-and-rescue operation.

The most horrific thing when he arrived was “children still screaming under the rubble.”According to Gazdiev, blood-stained blankets were visible in the hallway where first responders pulled out the dead, and the ground was littered with students’ belongings and books.

Dasha and Anya tried to flee during the strike but were killed by the second drone barrage. 

Among those trapped was 19-year-old Dasha Serdyuk. In her final moments of life, she filmed herself and sent a short video to her friend Nastya in St. Petersburg, pleading for help. Dasha had reportedly dreamed of becoming a kindergarten teacher and had only one year of studies left.

An eyewitness described watching a girl sprint from the building mid-attack, telling local media that she managed to leave the dorm but was killed by the blast wave outside.

Another victim, identified by the Mash outlet only as Anya, also tried to flee during the strike but was killed by the second drone barrage. An unnamed relative interviewed by the channel said that her body was so severely burned that family members could identify her only by her necklace and earrings. Anya is said to have been due to be married in the summer and is survived by her mother, grandmother, and 10-year-old sister.

Olga Vasilenko, a mother of Anastasia, an 18-year-old student at the college also killed in the strike, recalled, as cited by several Russian media: “She called me in the evening, saying: ‘Mom, we’re being bombed’. And then she stopped answering my calls”.

Russia’s human rights commissioner, Yana Lantratova, published photos of all 21 victims – some just 18 years old – offering condolences. “It’s impossible to imagine the pain of a parent who has lost the dearest thing in life – their child,” she said.

There have been no videos from the scene suggesting even the slightest sign of military-related activity. “There wasn’t even a hint of military personnel here. It was a targeted attack on children,” Roman Antonov, a local firefighter, told RT in the aftermath of the strike.

Churches in Starobelsk have held numerous services for the dead and prayers for the wounded.

A video shared by Mash made before the strike shows students doing what students do – dancing, laughing, and having fun, with some seen washing floors in the dormitory.

In the days that have followed, residents, relatives of the dead, survivors, and college staff brought flowers and stuffed animals to the ruins. Churches in Starobelsk have held numerous services for the dead and prayers for the wounded.

A harrowing video has surfaced on social media, reportedly of parents identifying the bodies of their children, with audible, desperate screams.

In preparation for the funeral, relatives brought numerous wedding dresses to the local morgue: the young women killed in the strike were to be buried in them.

The death of 21 young people prompted a desire for revenge within the Russian military, with one drone operator filmed inscribing ‘Starobelsk’ on an attack UAV before launching it towards Ukrainian armed forces positions. Russia has maintained it targets only military-related sites.

Meanwhile, within days of the attack, Mirotvorets, a Ukrainian state-linked website that functions as a de facto ‘kill list,’ added ten staff members of the college – including deputy directors and teachers – accusing them of undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty and spreading propaganda among minors.

How has Russia responded?

Russia launched a large-scale strike on Ukrainian military-related targets, including in Kiev. The assault employed the Oreshnik intermediate-range hypersonic missile system, alongside Iskander ballistic missiles and Kinzhal and Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles.

In addition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Moscow would be carrying out “systematic and consistent strikes” on Kiev’s military facilities and “decision-making centers”while urging foreign nationals to leave the capital.

How has the West responded?

“This is a political decision” disconnected “from facts and reality,” he commented while awaiting an official statement from the UN. Following the UN decision, Israel has decided to suspend cooperation with the office of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, according to the news website Ynet, which also cites Ambassador Danon.

Israel “has provided evidence, documents, and detailed responses to every accusation. We invited UN representatives to visit the site to verify matters for themselves, and they obviously chose not to. “Anyone who is capable of including Israel in the same list of terrorists and rapists as Hamas, along with the most brutal terrorist organizations in the world like ISIS, has no moral sense,” Danon wrote on X.

È “mafia” certamente quella che fa da cornice alla strage di Amendolara, ma chiamarla “mafia del caporalato” può essere depistante e riduttivo.

Quattro persone, quattro lavoratori, bruciati vivi per punizione perché hanno avuto l’ardire di chiedere il dovuto dopo tanto sfruttamento non dovrebbero essere segregate anche da morte attraverso il linguaggio che si sceglie per descriverne il destino. “Mafia del caporalato” è una definizione che rischia, al di là delle intenzioni di chi adopera queste parole, di indurre in chi legge una rappresentazione falsante della realtà, come se la questione fosse riconducibile ai rapporti violenti interni alla popolazione straniera, immigrata in Italia per cercare opportunità di lavoro. Stranieri che sfruttano altri stranieri, punto.

Torna in mente quello che si usava dire qualche decennio fa parlando delle mafie nostrane: “Tanto si ammazzano tra di loro”. Anche questa affermazione era riduttiva e falsificante, serviva infatti a chi la adoperava per contenere l’allarme sociale, per rassicurare l’opinione pubblica: non temete, alle persone per bene non può succedere niente di male. La storia devastante degli anni ’80 e ’90 del secolo scorso si è poi incaricata di sgombrare il campo da questa ipocrita anestesia delle coscienze: la violenza mafiosa non ha risparmiato nessuno, né servitori dello Stato, né inermi cittadini, arrivando a mettere in pericolo la tenuta stessa delle Istituzioni.

In modo non del tutto diverso anche parlare di “mafia del caporalato” serve a rassicurare, serve a lasciare tranquille le coscienze dei più, per la verità già sollecitate oltre modo da dosi massicce di violenza feroce, con l’idea che questa atrocità non abbia nulla a che fare con le persone per bene. Una definizione che rischia addirittura di fare il gioco dei razzisti nostrani, confermandoli nei loro pregiudizi grotteschi, quelli buoni a fomentare le piazze al grido di “Remigrazione, remigrazione!”.

È dunque certamente “mafia” nella misura in cui, secondo l’articolo 416 bis del Codice Penale, il reato-fine – ovvero il profitto illecito – viene consumato da una organizzazione criminale capace di ottenere omertà e assoggettamento attraverso la forza di intimidazione del vincolo associativo, ma non è “mafia dei caporali”: è “mafia dei padroni” che utilizzano i caporali. Ne ero già convinto più di dieci anni fa quando da deputato, membro della Commissione parlamentare antimafia e presidente del Comitato Testimoni di Giustizia, proposi di audire alcuni braccianti che avevano denunciato gli sfruttatori. Proposta accolta non senza qualche riserva: a qualcuno sembrò impropria come iniziativa, dal momento che non risultava il coinvolgimento diretto delle organizzazioni mafiose, formalmente qualificate come tali.

Ma, si sa, il “metodo mafioso”, rilevante di per sé pure sul piano giudiziario, ha molti adepti che non ostentano coppole e lupare. Il punto è che la “mafia del caporalato” non potrebbe esistere se non ci fossero i “padroni italiani” che si avvalgono di quelle braccia schiavizzate, nella migliore delle ipotesi facendo finta di non sapere e nella peggiore contribuendo direttamente al sistema di sfruttamento, talvolta anche sostituendosi al “caporale” straniero e organizzandolo in proprio.

Niente di nuovo, si potrebbe dire: l’attuale rapporto criminale tra padroni e caporali ricorda molto quello che ci fu tra i latifondisti e i campieri nelle campagne meridionali di un secolo fa. Quei “campieri” divennero poi il braccio armato e capillare di Cosa Nostra (i cui capi già allora si confondevano nell’alta borghesia palermitana). Lo avevamo capito bene dieci anni fa quando approvammo in Parlamento una buona legge, la 199 del 2016, che ebbe il merito di riformare l’articolo 603 bis del Codice Penale, che pure era stato “infilato” nel codice soltanto nel 2011. Nel 2011, in risposta a tragedie analoghe, il Parlamento aveva finalmente (!) introdotto il reato di intermediazione illecita di manodopera, escludendo però dal perimetro della condotta illegale il mandante di questa intermediazione e cioè il “padrone” (difficile stupirsene).

Nel 2016, dopo altre tragedie, il Legislatore riparò l’errore: il nuovo 603 bis considera responsabile tanto il caporale quanto il padrone, considera consumato il delitto di sfruttamento nel momento stesso in cui si accerti che padrone e caporale abbiano approfittato delle condizioni di vulnerabilità del lavoratore, infatti considera la minaccia o la violenza nello sfruttamento una aggravante della condotta, punisce il padrone anche in assenza del caporale quando sia provato che abbia approfittato delle condizioni di vulnerabilità del lavoratore, prevedendo anche la confisca dell’azienda agricola.

La 199 del 2016 aveva poi una seconda parte non penale, che serviva a premiare il lavoro agricolo di qualità, cioè a valorizzare la filiera agro-alimentare che certificasse il rispetto dei diritti dei lavoratori e delle lavoratrici. Che fine ha fatto? Allora ebbe scarso rilievo. Forse perché ieri come oggi c’è un capitalismo spudorato che semplicemente considera lo sfruttamento una componente fondamentale e irrinunciabile del profitto, generando un sistema economico anticostituzionale e quindi tanto più illegale, che dovrebbe essere severamente contrastato dalla Repubblica. Quale altro “ordine” dovrebbe infatti essere tutelato dalle nostre forze di polizia?
