Stacey King, ex giocatore dei Chicago Bulls campioni Nba nei primi anni Novanta e per oltre vent’anni storico telecronista della franchigia, è morto all’età di 59 anni. La notizia è stata comunicata dai Bulls, che hanno spiegato di essere stati informati da un familiare. Al momento non sono state rese note le cause del decesso.
Per i tifosi di Chicago, King rappresentava molto più di un ex cestista. Era uno dei volti e delle voci più riconoscibili della storia recente della squadra, protagonista prima sul parquet accanto a Michael Jordan e poi dietro al microfono, dove aveva conquistato una nuova generazione di appassionati grazie al suo stile inconfondibile e alle sue celebri esclamazioni.
Scelto dai Bulls con la sesta chiamata assoluta del Draft Nba del 1989 dopo l’esperienza universitaria a Oklahoma, King giocò a Chicago per cinque stagioni. Con la maglia dei Bulls conquistò tre titoli consecutivi tra il 1991 e il 1993, entrando a far parte della squadra che diede il via alla dinastia guidata da Jordan. Nel corso della sua carriera Nba vestì anche le maglie di Minnesota, Miami, Boston e Dallas, chiudendo con medie di 6,4 punti e 3,3 rimbalzi a partita.
Dopo il ritiro tornò nell’universo Bulls in una veste diversa, diventando commentatore delle partite della squadra. Per oltre due decenni fu una presenza costante nelle trasmissioni dedicate al club, tanto da diventare una figura amatissima dal pubblico. Le sue telecronache erano caratterizzate da entusiasmo, ironia e da soprannomi diventati iconici tra i tifosi.
Il proprietario dei Bulls Jerry Reinsdorf lo ha ricordato come “un membro amatissimo della famiglia Bulls e una delle personalità più uniche della storia dell’organizzazione”. Nel messaggio diffuso dalla franchigia ha sottolineato come il legame di King con Chicago e con i tifosi sia durato oltre trent’anni, prima da giocatore e poi come voce capace di portare il basket dei Bulls nelle case di intere generazioni. Anche Michael Reinsdorf, presidente e amministratore delegato del club, ha evidenziato il rapporto speciale che King aveva con il pubblico: “Amava essere un Bull. Lo si percepiva dal modo in cui giocava, raccontava le partite e si relazionava con i tifosi”.
Fino a poche settimane fa King continuava a raccontare il basket con la passione di sempre. Nel suo podcast “Gimme the Hot Sauce”, nome ispirato a una delle sue esclamazioni più famose, spiegava così il suo approccio al lavoro: “Ci divertiamo in quello che facciamo. È un lavoro bellissimo. Non mi sembra mai di lavorare. Ogni sera, che si vinca, si perda o si pareggi, io mi sto divertendo“. Una frase che oggi assume il valore di un ultimo saluto per una delle figure più amate nella storia dello sport a Chicago.

The undisputed NBA Greatest of All Time (GOAT) arrived with his private jet and is kicking off his summer in Greece alongside a 25-member entourage, cruising the Aegean aboard his luxury superyacht, M’Brace.
Mykonoslive-tv spotted the basketball icon relaxing on deck, taking in the famous Myconian sunset. In recent years, Jordan has shown a steady preference for Greek destinations, with Mykonos remaining one of his absolute favorite summer stops.
The M’Brace is a striking 65-meter (213-foot) superyacht, built in 2018 by the Dutch shipyard Amels. Designed for both comfort and performance, it features six cabins that accommodate up to twelve guests, expansive interior and exterior lounges, a gym, a jacuzzi, a private club area, and a variety of water sports equipment. The vessel is staffed by a dedicated crew of seventeen.
Registered in the Cayman Islands, M’Brace is considered one of the most discreet yet opulent yachts. Its value is estimated to be between $115-$150 million, depending on the source.
