A seleção nacional masculina conquistou pela primeira vez o Algarve 7s Sports Festival, encerrando com a chave-de-ouro dois dias de alta intensidade e grandes emoções.
Na final frente à Geórgia, os Lobos dos 7s nunca perderam o controlo do jogo, conseguindo chegar à linha-de-ensaio por duas ocasiões, com Martim Dias a assinar os dois ensaios e uma conversão.
Conseguindo apenas furar a defesa lusa por uma vez, os Lelos ainda tentaram ir em busca da reviravolta, com Mathis Modebadze a ser o marcador. Contudo, já não havia mais tempo para se jogar, com os comandados de Frederico Sousa a garantir o título de campeão pela primeira vez na divisão de Elite masculina.
Manuel Fati, capitão da seleção nacional, já tinha referido no sábado a importância de garantir um resultado na competição de Elite.
“O nosso objetivo é competir e lutar por cada final, independentemente dos adversários que surgirem no nosso caminho.”
Já em relação à seleção nacional feminina, Portugal atingiu a final mas foi incapaz de superar um UMUSA Monaco de grande nível, que conquistou o título de campeão com o resultado final a ser de 17-10.
Na final do Open masculino, os italianos do Cormoragbi dominaram por completo a Agronomia Rugby, somando um 24-00 para levar o ouro para casa.
Num domingo preenchido com mais de 78 jogos, o Complexo Desportivo de Vila Real de Santo António esteve mergulhado num frenesim total com diversas nacionalidades a se envolverem no espírito do evento.
A antiga internacional inglesa que fez parte da equipa que conquistou o Campeonato do Mundo de 2014 de rugby feminino, Danielle Waterman, marcou presença no Algarve 7s Sports Festival enquanto treinadora dos Cavaliers, enaltecendo o impacto deste evento no lançamento de novos atletas.
“Eventos como o Algarve 7s Sports Festival garantem um nível competitivo alto para atletas que querem atingir o topo da modalidade. Una serata di festa si è trasformata in un incubo a Toledo, in Ohio, dove una sparatoria avvenuta nei pressi dell’Old West End Festival ha provocato almeno 12 feriti, due dei quali versano in gravi condizioni. Le autorità sono ancora alla ricerca dei responsabili. In un primo momento la polizia aveva parlato genericamente di numerose vittime trasportate negli ospedali della zona. Il sindaco di Toledo, Wade Kapszukiewicz, aveva poi riferito che i feriti erano otto e che nessuno era in pericolo di vita. Nelle ore successive il bilancio è però salito ad almeno 12 persone colpite da arma da fuoco.
Secondo quanto riferito dal vice capo della polizia Joe Heffernan durante una conferenza stampa, dietro il caos ci sarebbero due uomini armati che “probabilmente si sparavano a vicenda”. Al momento nessuno dei due sospetti è stato arrestato. La sparatoria è avvenuta nel pieno dell’Old West End Festival, tradizionale manifestazione che ogni anno richiama migliaia di persone con concerti, sfilate e mercatini. Testimoni hanno raccontato scene di panico. “Quando ho sentito gridare ‘Tutti indietro’, la gente cadeva e inciampava senza capire cosa stesse succedendo”, ha riferito alla Cnn un uomo che ha chiesto di restare anonimo. Kevin Berry, veterano della Marina statunitense, ha raccontato all’Associated Press di aver sentito diversi colpi mentre assisteva a un concerto con gli amici. “Tutti si sono buttati a terra”, ha detto. Una volta rialzatosi, ha visto un’arma a pochi metri da lui e ha iniziato a cercare eventuali feriti da soccorrere, notando persone colpite sparse in varie zone del parco.
Anche il governatore dell’Ohio, Mike DeWine, è intervenuto con un messaggio su X, sottolineando che “le feste estive dovrebbero essere luoghi sicuri dove le famiglie possano trascorrere del tempo insieme senza temere la violenza”, esprimendo fiducia nel lavoro delle forze dell’ordine per individuare i responsabili di quello che ha definito “un crimine insensato”.

The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival marked its 20th edition in Hollywood with the Orpheus Awards Ceremony, honoring Greek and Cypriot filmmakers and paying tribute to Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat.
The festival’s Closing Night Film and Orpheus Awards Ceremony took place on May 31 at the Egyptian Theatre, in collaboration with the American Cinematheque. This year’s edition brought together filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and supporters of Greek cinema for a week of screenings, red carpet events, tributes, and awards. The festival’s virtual film program continues through June 14.
Founded in 2007, LAGFF has grown into one of the most important platforms for Greek and Cypriot cinema outside Greece. Over the past two decades, it has screened more than 800 films, hosted over 700 filmmakers, and reached an audience of more than 50,000.
One of the evening’s major highlights was the presentation of the Honorary Orpheus Award to Alexandre Desplat, one of the most acclaimed film composers working today.
Desplat, who won Academy Awards for his scores for The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Shape of Water, received the honor for his contribution to contemporary cinema. Filmmaker Malcolm Washington presented the award during the Closing Night ceremony, while Fay Lellios produced the tribute.
The evening also included a remembrance tribute to George Kolovos of G.P. Kolovos & Associates, a longtime benefactor of the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival.
“The 20th celebratory edition of LAGFF left indelible memories,” said Aristotle Katopodis, Artistic and Festival Director of LAGFF. “Feting Alexandre Desplat, remembering Dean Tavoularis, and paying respects to our 20-year-long benefactors, the Kolovos family, are images deeply etched in our hearts and souls.”
Katopodis also congratulated the filmmakers whose work was celebrated this year and thanked the festival’s supporters, sponsors, and team for championing Greek cinema.
The Closing Night Film, Hold Onto Me, directed by Myrsini Aristidou, won the Orpheus Award for Best Feature Film.
The film, which previously won the World Cinema Audience Award at Sundance, was one of the leading titles of this year’s festival. Following the screening, actor Michael Grant hosted a Q&A with Aristidou.
KNX Radio’s Vivianne Linou hosted the Orpheus Awards Ceremony.
In the animation category, Dream by Semiramis Mamata won the Orpheus Award for Best Animation Film. The Special Jury Award for Animation Film went to Poppy Flowers by Evridiki Papaiakovou.
The Orpheus Award for Best Short Film went to Prelude to a Supernova by Christos Artemiou, while the Special Jury Award for Short Film went to Gekas by Dimitris Moutsiakas.
In the feature film categories, Hold Onto Me by Myrsini Aristidou won Best Feature Film. Krysianna Papadakis and Stergios Dinopoulos received the Orpheus Award for Best Director for Bearcave, while Amerissa Basta received the Special Jury Award for Best Director for Life in a Beat.
The Orpheus Award for Best Performance went to Denise Fraga for Dreaming of Lions. Niovi Charalampous received the Special Jury Award for Best Performance for Smaragda – I Got Thick Skin and I Can’t Jump, while Vangelis Mourikis earned an honorable mention for Patty Is Such a Girly Name.
The Audience Award for Feature Film went to Best Friends Forever by Konstantinos Mousoulis. The Audience Award for Short Film went to The Smoker by Alexa Economacos.
The festival also presented its Social Justice Awards in partnership with Loyola Marymount University’s Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts, Department of Classics and Archaeology.
The Social Justice Award for Short Film went to The Wolves Return by Stelios Moraitidis, while the Social Justice Award for Feature Film went to Maysoon by Nancy Biniadaki.
Award presenters included animator Aliki Theofilopoulos, actor and author Patricia Kara, music composer George Kallis, and film distributor Bill Vergos.
The jury panel included Leo Behrens, Nora Bernard, Karen Cifarelli, Cheng Guo, Harrison James, Chieh-Chih Liao, Eric Nazarian, and Irene Soriano Saxon.
This year’s Closing Night continued LAGFF’s collaboration with the Egyptian Theatre, Netflix, and the American Cinematheque.
The Egyptian Theatre, one of Hollywood’s most historic movie palaces, opened in 1922 and helped shape the early history of film premieres in Los Angeles. Restored through a partnership between Netflix and the American Cinematheque, the venue now combines its historic character with modern projection capabilities.
For LAGFF, the setting offered a symbolic backdrop for a festival that has spent two decades connecting Greek and Cypriot cinema with the wider Los Angeles film community.

Ogni festival, quando trova la sua forma, finisce per raccontare qualcosa di più della musica che porta sul palco. Spring Attitude lo fa da quindici anni, cambiando spazi, attraversando Roma, inseguendo le mutazioni della scena contemporanea senza trasformarle in posa. L’edizione 2026, chiusa alla Nuvola dell’EUR con ventimila presenze in due giorni e un doppio sold out, ha avuto il tono delle cose arrivate a maturità senza perdere irrequietezza: un compleanno importante, ma non celebrativo; un bilancio, ma ancora in movimento; una festa, certo, ma anche un modo per ricordare che la città può essere abitata diversamente quando la musica smette di fare da sottofondo e diventa presenza collettiva.
Il dato numerico conta, certo. Ventimila persone sono una soglia, una misura di scala, una prova di fiducia. Ma raccontano solo una parte della storia. L’altra riguarda il modo in cui quelle persone sono state dentro lo spazio: non da spettatori occasionali, ma da comunità mobile, da pubblico composito, da folla intermittente capace di passare dalla canzone alla club culture, dal live al dj set, dalla ricerca al pop, senza vivere queste traiettorie come contraddizioni. È qui che Spring Attitude continua a distinguersi: nella capacità di costruire un luogo dove la contemporaneità musicale non viene ordinata per compartimenti, ma lasciata circolare.
Non è un caso che Spring Attitude appaia come una risposta possibile alla rassegnazione: un festival capace di trasformare La Nuvola in un esercizio riuscito di “hacking urbano controllato”. Non una rivoluzione, ma un modo concreto per far vivere, per due giorni, uno spazio simbolico e un quartiere spesso percepito come monumentale, direzionale, più attraversato che abitato. La formula funziona perché non si limita a importare un modello festivaliero, ma lo adatta a una specificità romana: grandi architetture, vuoti urbani, stratificazioni, ambizioni passate e nuove possibilità d’uso.
La Nuvola, in questo senso, è stata molto più di una location. È diventata una macchina scenica, un contenitore estetico e sociale. La sua scala, la sua freddezza apparente, la sua monumentalità da grande opera pubblica si sono lasciate occupare da una materia opposta: corpi, calore, sudore, code, bassi, luci, bicchieri, voci, abiti, telefoni alzati, incontri. Il festival, realizzato in coproduzione con EUR SpA, ha trasformato ancora una volta il quartiere EUR in un punto di incontro della scena musicale italiana e internazionale.
Sul Ploom Stage si sono alternati alcuni dei nomi più riconoscibili dell’edizione. Nathy Peluso, con il suo CLUB GRASA, ha portato una forma di energia fisica e teatrale, mainstream e laterale allo stesso tempo. I Nu Genea hanno trasformato il loro ritorno in una celebrazione collettiva, tra disco, funk e immaginario mediterraneo. Motta ha celebrato i dieci anni de La fine dei vent’anni, riportando sul palco un disco generazionale senza ridurlo a operazione nostalgia. I PARISI hanno attraversato elettronica, visioni pop e clubbing culture con uno spettacolo costruito sul movimento e sulla precisione.
Intorno ai nomi più grandi, però, Spring Attitude ha continuato a fare quello che gli riesce meglio: tenere insieme centro e margine, riconoscibilità e scoperta. Tony Pitony è stato indicato dal comunicato come uno dei momenti più partecipati e imprevedibili dell’edizione; Yousuke Yukimatsu ha portato un set intenso e fisico; Mind Enterprises, okgiorgio, Yin Yin e Dov’è Liana hanno ampliato il perimetro sonoro del festival, tra psichedelia, italo-french touch, elettronica e forme ibride di intrattenimento intelligente.
La parte più interessante, però, resta forse quella che riguarda le nuove traiettorie del songwriting italiano. Emma Nolde, Lamante, Altea, Birthh e Gaia Banfi hanno mostrato quanto la canzone, quando smette di voler difendere i propri confini, possa dialogare con l’elettronica, l’ambient, il pop obliquo, l’indie più inquieto e le scritture personali. Spring Attitude non le inserisce come quota “cantautorale” dentro un programma dance, ma come parte di una stessa mappa: quella di una musica contemporanea che non si lascia più raccontare con le vecchie etichette.
È proprio questa la forza dell’edizione dei quindici anni: non aver costruito una celebrazione autoreferenziale, ma un bilancio in movimento. Spring Attitude è nato, cresciuto, cambiato, ha attraversato luoghi e forme diverse, ma ha conservato una postura riconoscibile: curiosità verso ciò che accade nella musica contemporanea, attenzione ai pubblici che cambiano, fiducia nella contaminazione. Andrea Esu, co-fondatore e direttore artistico del festival, ha sintetizzato questa traiettoria sottolineando come Spring Attitude sia cresciuto insieme alla città, mantenendo negli anni la stessa curiosità e vedendo anche in questa edizione pubblici diversi incontrarsi e lasciarsi sorprendere.
Poi c’è lo S/A Block Party, che ha trasformato la terrazza della Nuvola in un dancefloor affacciato sulla città. Non un dettaglio laterale, ma uno degli spazi più partecipati dell’intera manifestazione: la prova che un festival contemporaneo non vive soltanto nel palco principale, ma nelle sue zone di passaggio, nei luoghi in cui il pubblico cambia postura, si ferma, guarda Roma da un’altra altezza, balla dentro un’architettura che per due giorni smette di essere solo icona e diventa esperienza.
Il punto, allora, non è soltanto dire che Spring Attitude ha funzionato. Il punto è capire perché. Ha funzionato perché non ha scelto tra festa e ricerca, tra club e canzone, tra pubblico largo e nicchia, tra architettura e corpo. Ha funzionato perché ha accettato la complessità della musica contemporanea e l’ha trasformata in un’esperienza accessibile senza renderla piatta. Ha funzionato perché, in un Paese in cui spesso si discute di festival inseguendo paragoni impossibili con i grandi modelli internazionali, Spring Attitude conferma una via italiana credibile: più diffusa, più situata, più legata ai luoghi, meno ossessionata dalla gigantomania e più interessata alla qualità dell’incontro.
Anche Enrico Gasbarra, presidente di EUR SpA, ha letto l’edizione come un passaggio simbolico: i ventimila ingressi alla Nuvola, i quindici anni del festival e i dieci anni dell’edificio progettato da Massimiliano Fuksas diventano parte dello stesso racconto, quello di un quadrante urbano che vuole essere sempre più punto di riferimento per eventi culturali e internazionali. È una lettura istituzionale, certo, ma non distante da ciò che si percepiva nel pubblico: l’idea che la cultura possa servire anche a cambiare temporaneamente il modo in cui una città guarda i propri spazi.
Alla fine, Spring Attitude 2026 lascia tre immagini. La prima è quella di La Nuvola attraversata da ventimila persone, non più oggetto architettonico da contemplare ma spazio da vivere. La seconda è quella di una line-up capace di far convivere Nathy Peluso e Nu Genea, Motta e Yousuke Yukimatsu, Emma Nolde e Tony Pitony, senza chiedere al pubblico di scegliere una sola appartenenza. La terza è quella di Roma, che per due giorni ha mostrato una sua possibilità diversa: meno cartolina, meno monumento immobile, più corpo collettivo, più movimento, più primavera.
Quindici anni dopo, Spring Attitude non sembra un festival arrivato al punto di consolidarsi per inerzia. Sembra piuttosto un appuntamento che ha capito come restare riconoscibile continuando a cambiare. E forse è questa la sua vera forma di maturità: non diventare istituzione nel senso più fermo del termine, ma restare un’infrastruttura temporanea di desiderio, scoperta e presenza. Un posto in cui la musica non consola dalla città, ma la riattiva.

From July 25 to 31, 2026, the Chambley-Bussières Air Base in northeastern France will host the official qualifying week for the Ultimate Air Challenge (UAC), a one-of-a-kind European ultralight aircraft competition.
Held as part of “Chambley Air Passion – The Sky Celebration,” the event will place France’s Grand Est region at the heart of a major continental aviation gathering. Georges Humeau, president of the Chambley ultralight flying club, and Vincent Pouilleux, owner of the well-known restaurant La Carlingue à Mémé, are the driving forces behind the project.
The official start of the European race will take place in Chambley on August 1, 2026, with crews expected to return by August 8, bringing to a close nearly two weeks of aviation activities in the region.
Pilots from several European countries will converge on Chambley to validate their performance during the qualifying phase. The results will determine the official starting order for the race and provide a strategically important and highly competitive stage of the event.
Throughout the week, spectators will be able to watch aircraft departures and arrivals, attend pilot briefings, follow the evolving rankings, meet competitors, and enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment on the airfield.
Chambley Air Passion will open its hangars and facilities to the public, showcasing flying clubs, aviation professionals, schools, industrial partners, and training organizations.
The event aims to highlight the region’s aviation expertise, attract families and aviation enthusiasts, generate local economic benefits, and establish Chambley as a major aviation hub in eastern France.
The Ultimate Air Challenge presents a deceptively simple yet formidable challenge: take off from Chambley, fly over as many designated checkpoints across Europe as possible, and return to the starting point within seven days.
Between August 1 and August 7, 2026, participants will be free to chart their own routes through countries including Germany, Spain, Greece, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Finland. In total, approximately twenty countries will be accessible, with some competitors potentially accumulating more than fifty flight hours during the event.
The Ultimate Air Challenge aims to become for ultralight aviation what major ocean races are for sailing: an iconic, widely followed, and highly publicized competition.
By hosting both the qualifying week and the official start of the European race, Chambley is reinforcing its position as the birthplace of a competition designed to leave a lasting mark on the European aviation landscape.
A co-organizer of Chambley Air Passion alongside Vincent Pouilleux, Georges Humeau, 69, is a lifelong aviation enthusiast with a particular passion for ultralight aircraft.
For the past fifteen years, he has led the Chambley Sport & Leisure Ultralight Club, sharing his enthusiasm with new generations of pilots. He also serves as president of the Chambley-Based Aviation Users Association (AUAB) and of the Ultimate Air Challenge itself.
Previously, Humeau served as vice president of the regional committee of the French Ultralight Federation and secretary of the national federation, which represents approximately 16,000 members. He stepped away from those positions to focus on his region, his airfield, and the ambitious projects he is now developing.
Originally from Issy-les-Moulineaux near Paris, Humeau eventually settled in Metz and joined the Chambley ultralight club.
“I joined when I turned fifty,” he recalls. “I’ve always been involved in nonprofit organizations, and I wanted to contribute my own vision and ideas. I started as the club’s secretary, then became vice president, and finally president in 2014.”
Today, the Chambley Sport & Leisure Ultralight Club has approximately 160 members and owns six aircraft. It also trains around fifty students, some of whom travel from La Rochelle, Saint-Brieuc, Luxembourg, and Paris.
One student is even a former Airbus A380 pilot.
“They appreciate the atmosphere and the energy of the club,” Humeau explains, “but above all, they value our operating model, which relies entirely on volunteers.”
An ultralight pilot license can generally be earned after 25 to 30 hours of flight instruction, at a cost of approximately €93 per flight hour. As with a driver’s license, candidates must pass both a written and a practical examination.
As part of Chambley Air Passion, Humeau will also introduce young people to aviation through a “Youth Passport” program. Participants who demonstrate commitment through regular visits to the club will be rewarded with a complimentary ultralight flight.
Another initiative involves a partnership between the club and Jean XXIII High School in Metz. The school plans to launch a higher-education aviation program next academic year. The bachelor’s degree program, developed by the IPSA School of Advanced Sciences and Engineering in partnership with Jean XXIII, is expected to further strengthen aviation education in the region.
These efforts appear to be paying off: membership has increased steadily by about five percent annually for the past twelve years.
Vincent Pouilleux, owner of the restaurant La Carlingue à Mémé, is one of the key organizers of Chambley Air Passion, which will run from the morning of July 25 through the evening of August 2, 2026.
“Our goal is to create an event that is popular, friendly, and festive, centered around aviation,” he says. “Every association based at the airfield and affiliated with the AUAB is taking part, along with neighboring municipalities and numerous partners.”
The festival program includes a wide variety of family-friendly attractions, exhibitors, games, and workshops for children. Visitors can enjoy face-painting stations, jugglers, circus performers, amusement rides, and live entertainment announced throughout the event.
The sky itself will be part of the celebration, featuring kites, indoor model-aircraft workshops, miniature hot-air balloons, full-size hot-air balloons, airplanes, gliders, ultralights, paragliders, and skydivers.
Wednesday will be dedicated entirely to children. Hospitalized children and individuals with disabilities will be invited as honored guests.
Throughout the festival, visitors will have opportunities to win flights in hot-air balloons, airplanes, ultralights, gliders, and paragliders.
Music and dance enthusiasts can gather at a traditional open-air dance pavilion set up on the main esplanade.
The cultural side of aviation has not been overlooked. The event will also feature lectures by pilots and aviation experts, book signings by specialized authors, and aviation-themed booksellers.
The final weekend will conclude with what organizers promise will be a major surprise.
