O ciclista algarvio Daniel Lima foi o segundo melhor representante português na Corrida da Paz, concluindo no 13º lugar a prova destinada a atletas sub-23 e disputada até domingo na Chéquia.

Os corredores lusos participaram na prova em representação da seleção nacional de sub-23.

Rúben Rodrigues, da Feira dos Sofás-Boavista, foi o melhor ciclista português, terminando na 7ª posição da geral individual, a 53 segundos do “camisola amarela”, o belga Kamiel Eeman (Lotto-Groupe Wanty), vencedor da derradeira etapa.

Daniel Lima (Bourg-en-Bresse Ain Cyclisme), natural de Loulé, chegou à meta na última tirada integrado no grupo principal, na 10ª posição, e subiu ao 13º lugar nas contas finais, a 57 segundos do líder.

O algarvio Noah Campos (Team Tavira/Crédito Agrícola) foi 77º, a 16.36 minutos, enquanto Cláudio Leal (Aviludo/Louletano/Loulé) terminou em 86º, a 19.30.

«A seleção nacional terminou a Corrida da Paz com um balanço muito positivo, colocando dois atletas no top-15 da classificação geral final. Este resultado reflete a qualidade, o compromisso e a capacidade competitiva dos nossos atletas numa prova internacional de elevado nível», referiu o selecionador Valter Sousa.
