‘If Australian datacentres are going to power the AI revolution, we deserve a fair return’ – David Pocock

Independent senator David Pocock has published an opinion piece about the growth of AI datacentres in Australia and how the gold rush should benefit Australians. He writes:

Huge investment in this space is pouring into Australia. In the past year, Microsoft has announced $25bn will go into Australian datacentres and Amazon Web Services has committed another $20bn.

The prime minister has posed for photos with the CEOs of both companies, welcoming the investment with open arms despite a growing backlash by communities against AI and datacentre construction. At a time when economic growth is sluggish, the government sees billions of dollars in investment as making for a good headline.

I think if you look at the programme itself, it’s a great podcast that she’s done a great job on a topic that I’m sure will be of real interest and real importance to many Australians who suffer from those conditions, and particularly young Australians and young Australian women.

So there’s a balance in all these things … for the ABC to be ensuring that we bring great content to air and also acknowledging that, you know, with some of the people that we work with, sometimes there will be controversy.

Obviously we’ve looked at Charlie’s comments. I think he did express that they were his own view. They weren’t represented at the ABC. It was a little bit on the hop and a little bit not. So I think we felt comfortable that we were able to accept that his comments weren’t a breach of the ABC code of conduct.

Premature births are climbing in Ukraine’s front-line regions, and doctors blame the ongoing war

premature births climbing ukraine's front-line regions doctors blame ongoing war · post newborn temperature-controlled incubator hospital zaporizhzhia ukraine new born baby ap news ukrainian reports

Premature births are rising in several Ukrainian regions near the front line, where war-driven stress on pregnant women appears to be taking a tollaccording to the Associated Press (AP). Doctors in cities like Zaporizhzhia keep fragile newborns alive between air raid sirens, in wards with windows boarded up against Russian blast waves. The trend compounds a deepening crisis as fewer Ukrainian women give birth at all.

Russia's war is grinding down Ukraine's population on every front, from the men dying at the line to the families displaced and the children who never arrive. A generation born under fire will carry the war's medical and demographic cost for decades, long after any ceasefire, deepening the strain on a health system Russia keeps targeting.

How far the rate has climbed

In Kherson Oblast, early births climbed from 5.4% of deliveries in 2019 to 9.8% by 2025 — close to twice the rate, UN figures show.  Zaporizhzhia Oblast rose from 5.7% to 7.6%, and Poltava Oblast from 7.7% to 9.8% over the same period. The front line runs through Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. Poltava sits farther back but takes regular aerial strikes. Fewer Ukrainian women are giving birth overall, yet a larger share of births now come early, AP reported.

Keeping newborns alive under bombardment

The medical work is delicate and unforgiving. In a Zaporizhzhia intensive care unit, one baby born at 30 weeks weighs just 700 grams, far below the 2,500-gram threshold the World Health Organization (WHO) uses for low birth weight. Marharyta Nekhoroshyva's son arrived even earlier, at 26 weeks and 940 grams. Now nine months old, he still battles chronic breathing problems while she raises him alone, her husband fighting in the war.

Doctors must manage oxygen precisely, since too much risks abnormal blood-vessel growth in the eyes and, in severe cases, blindness, said Dr. Andrii Lobanov, who heads neonatal intensive care at Zaporizhzhia's children's hospital. When sirens sound, staff stay beside the incubators rather than risk moving the babies.

The danger is not abstract. Dr. Nataliia Bohuslavska, who runs the neonatal unit at the city's maternity hospital, opened a shift last month to alarms warning of incoming missiles. Hours later, a Russian glide bomb hit a commercial part of the city and killed at least 12 people. Her team delivered a baby and performed two cesareans that same day, while treating a woman who miscarried after witnessing an airstrike.

Russia hits two hospitals, kills one woman overnight in strikes on Ukrainian cities

The longer cost

Surviving the delivery is only the start. Premature babies often need years of treatment for respiratory, neurological, and developmental conditions, a heavy bill for a country at war. Hospital services get hit "both literally and metaphorically," said Dr. Andrew Weeks, a maternal-health professor at the University of Liverpool.

It also lands on a country whose birth rate has collapsed to about one child per woman — less than half the 2.1 a population needs simply to hold steady.

Northern Thai residents march for action on polluted rivers. ‘This is an emergency’

BANGKOK — More than 600 residents of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces embarked May 31 on a roughly 68-kilometer, six-day ‘peace walk’ to demand the Thai government take action on the river pollution crisis that has seen Thai rivers polluted with heavy metals. The ensemble of affected residents, civil society groups, monks and students marched from Tha Ton subdistrict in Chiang Mai to the city of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand, reaching their destination on June 5, World Environment Day. For more than a year, Thailand’s Pollution Control Department has reported dangerous levels of arsenic, mercury, cadmium and other heavy metals in rivers across northern Thailand, with mining operations across eastern Myanmar suspected to be responsible for the pollution. “We are walking because our rivers are slowly dying,” Pianporn Deetes, executive director of the Rivers and Rights Foundation, which helped to organize the peace walk, told Mongabay by phone. “Toxic contamination from unregulated mining upstream is already affecting water, fish, food, livelihoods, and public health. We do not want to wait until more people become sick. This is an emergency.” Pianporn said the walk (42 miles) was about taking collective action to share information, document impacts and build public pressure in a bid to force the government to address the issue, which Pianporn said has, so far, been lacking. “Monitoring has improved, but action has not matched the scale of the crisis,” she said. “We need urgent diplomatic engagement with neighboring countries, stronger health monitoring, transparency, and action to…This article was originally published on Mongabay

The Adulterous American Christians Crave Friendship with the World Making them Enemies of God

by Brian Shilhavy

The letter from James recorded in the New Testament portion of the Bible has been controversial since the Reformation period in Europe, when the German priest and theologian Martin Luther expressed his opinions about whether or not James’s letter should have been included in the New Testament writings.

Luther’s main “protest” against the Roman Catholic Church was that the gospel did not require a person to be religious and with “righteous deeds” to know God, and that the Catholic doctrine of Papal authority was not biblical.

He claimed that God spoke to him through Romans 1:17:

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)

The emphasis of much of the Reformation movement in Europe was based on this truth, that “The righteous will live by faith,” and faith alone. Religious works and adherence to the Pope as an authority figure were not required.

So in the mind of Luther, when he came to the letter of James in the New Testament, he took issue with much of what James wrote, such as this:

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.

If one of you says to him,

“Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,”

but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:14-17)

He seemed to think that this contradicted the writings of Paul, such as Paul’s letter to the Romans, and Romans 1:17 which states “The righteous will live by faith.”

There is, of course, no contradiction at all. The confusion lies in the place “works” or “righteous deeds” have in the life of a believer in Jesus Christ.

If a person believes that they have to become “righteous” first as a requirement to earn God’s favor before they can enter the Kingdom of God through the spiritual rebirth, then that belief is not the gospel.

Luther and most of the other Reformers were correct about this, and accurately pointed out the false doctrines of the Catholic Church during that time period.

However, if one understands that “works” or “righteous deeds” are the result of faith, not the requirements for faith, then there is no contradiction at all.

Here is the rest of James chapter 2 where you can follow his logic:

But someone will say,

“You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?

You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

And the scripture was fulfilled that says,

“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”

and he was called God’s friend.

You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. (James 2:18-24)

Faith is what brings us into the Kingdom of God, understanding that we cannot meet the requirements of the law, and that we need Jesus’s perfect blood sacrifice to satisfy God’s demand for justice for every time we break God’s laws and requirements.

It leads to the spiritual rebirth, where the Holy Spirit enters into our life, bringing the power of God to give us strength to live the holy lifestyle.

Paul’s writings reflected this same truth, such as in Galatians chapter 5:

So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.

They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.

I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. (Galatians 5:16-26)

This error in teaching by the European Reformation leaders can still be seen in American Christianity today, particularly in Evangelical Christianity, where the emphasis is frequently in teaching people that all one needs for salvation is “faith” and that it doesn’t matter what your lifestyle looks like.

The Christian churches who teach this often say things like: “Come as you are!”, with the idea that no one is perfect anyway, so don’t worry about it. God loves you just as you are.

And there is a partial truth to this, which is what makes this theology so dangerous. The fact that God loves us and accepts us “just as we are” is indeed a part of the gospel message.

But coming to God “just as you are” does not mean “stay as you are and don’t worry about changing.”

The fact is that if the Holy Spirit comes into your life, you can NOT stay as you are – because you won’t even want to!

Our standard as believers who represent Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God is nothing less than perfection. Jesus said to his followers: “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

This is our standard. This is what we strive for. This is what we desire.

Here is the full context:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.

He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48)

James: The Evidence of True Believers

Like most of the New Testament writers, James stated that the mark of a true believer is how they act, and not just what words that come out of their mouth, which is the same thing that Jesus taught:

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

By their fruit you will recognize them.

Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:15-20)

One of the issues that James criticized the false believers of his day was on the issue of prejudice and discrimination, and favoring the rich over the poor, judging people by which “class” they belonged to.

This would be considered a “liberal” issue today in the U.S., and criticized by “Conservative” Christians as preaching a “social gospel”, with the word “social” being evil and akin to “Communism.”

Here’s what James wrote to those who believed and acted like this:

My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism.

Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.

If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say,

“Here’s a good seat for you,”

but say to the poor man,

“You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,”

have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?

But you have insulted the poor.

Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong?

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.

But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. (James 2:1-10)

Most English translations of the Bible use the word “favoritism” here, which is not really a common word in today’s modern English, and would probably be better translated as “prejudice” or “discrimination.”

There are Civil Rights laws in the U.S. that attempt to address the principles of this kind of injustice that James is writing about here.

But again, in American conservative politics and religion, this biblical principle is looked down upon as “liberal” and wrong by many.

We are actually seeing the same thing happen today in modern American culture that James observed during his day, where so-called believers are giving preference to the rich and powerful, the very people who are exploiting the poor and weaponizing the legal system to attack them.

Donald Trump is the perfect example of this!

Conservative Christians could care less that his name appears more often in the Epstein files than almost any other name, and they support his actions against the poor immigrants and refugees who come into this country.

He is the perfect example as one who receives “special attention” because of his wealth and political status that James wrote about!

I made this video and published it in a previous article, but listen to these Christians adore and worship Trump recently in Washington D.C.!

See:

Christians Descend upon Washington D.C. to Worship Their Pedophile Leaders and “Make God Great Again”

These “believers” who worship and adore Donald Trump as their leader, according to the writing of James, are enemies of God.

You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?

Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. (James 4:4)

Many (but not all) American Conservative Christians believe that they can have fame and success in the world, and also be part of the Kingdom of God.

But it is a lie.

Following the Truth, who is a person and not a concept (John 14:6), means going against the world system that is controlled by Satan, which will always result in persecution and suffering.

The U.S. is run by pedophiles, most of them Christian pedophiles, and judgment awaits a nation that tolerates the abuse, torture, and sexual trafficking of children.

This is nothing to rejoice in, but to weep and mourn.

As James wrote:

Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. (James 4:9-10)

The day is soon coming where the false believers in American Christianity will be revealed to the whole world for who they truly are, the enemies of God.

Ebola spread in central Africa could match 2014 record outbreak, US health officials say

Modelling from US CDC shows Ebola spread could be on ‘dangerous trajectory’, but experts warn outbreaks can be very hard to predict

Central Africa’s Ebola outbreak could spread to be similar in scale to the worst outbreak in history, west Africa’s 2014-2016 outbreak that killed more than 11,000 people, according to a new analysis by US health officials.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday published a range of scenarios generated by computer models, from 10,000 cases to more than 20,000. In the west Africa outbreak, more than 28,000 cases were reported.

World’s First AI-Designed Vaccine Tested in Humans Could Fight Future Pandemics

biden vaccine mandate

Researchers have developed an AI-designed vaccine that could protect against a broad range of coronaviruses, including future strains that have not yet emerged.

Scientists at the University of Cambridge say the project marks the first time an Artificial Intelligence-designed vaccine antigen has been tested in human volunteers. They believe the technology could eventually help protect against entire families of viruses rather than individual strains.

AI designs a vaccine for multiple coronavirus threats

Most vaccines are built using versions of viruses that are already circulating. As those viruses mutate, vaccines often need updating to remain effective. The new approach aims to overcome that challenge.

Researchers collected genetic information from a wide range of coronaviruses identified through surveillance programs that monitor viruses with pandemic potential. Artificial intelligence then analyzed the data and designed a “super-antigen,” a vaccine component intended to train the immune system to recognize many related coronaviruses at once.

Antigens are the parts of vaccines that teach the immune system what to attack. Researchers say the AI-designed antigen could potentially protect against current coronavirus variants as well as animal viruses that may one day spread to humans.

Professor Jonathan Heeney of the University of Cambridge described the research as a major shift in pandemic preparedness. He said the goal is to develop vaccines that protect against future threats rather than reacting after outbreaks occur.

Early human trials show encouraging results

The first human trial involved 39 volunteers and was designed to evaluate safety. Researchers reported no major safety concerns. A larger study involving about 200 participants is now underway to better understand how effectively the vaccine stimulates immune responses.

Scientists at the University of Cambridge say AI developed a vaccine’s ‘key component’ for the first time

The vaccine was engineered to work on all coronaviruses, but is in its early stages of work pic.twitter.com/YYt5SGDe5v

— Interesting AF (@interesting_aIl) June 5, 2026

Results published in the Journal of Infection showed that the vaccine generated a measurable, though modest, immune response. Despite the early-stage findings, researchers and independent experts say the technology shows significant promise.

Professor Saul Faust of the University of Southampton, who helped conduct some of the trials, said the approach has strong potential, particularly for rapidly changing viruses that can spark future pandemics.

Researchers expand the technology to other diseases

Researchers are already applying the technology to other diseases. Animal studies are underway on a universal influenza vaccine that could eliminate the need for yearly updates. Scientists are also developing vaccines targeting H5N1 bird flu and viral hemorrhagic fevers, including Ebola.

Professor Andy Pollard, director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, said the findings add to growing evidence that artificial intelligence could transform vaccine research. He noted that future AI systems may help predict how the immune system will respond to vaccine candidates, potentially accelerating development.

Experts see a new era for vaccine development

Professor Marian Knight, scientific director at the National Institute for Health and Care Research, called the trial an important step toward broader and longer-lasting protection against viral diseases.

UK Science Minister Patrick Vallance said the early results demonstrate how artificial intelligence and scientific research can work together to create new medical tools.

Researchers caution that much larger studies are needed before the vaccine can be widely used. However, they believe the technology could help the world prepare for future pandemics before they begin.

Doctor Warns Popular Russian Drink May Harm Health in Some Cases

Kvass has been a staple of Slavic culture for centuries, valued for its refreshing taste and long-standing place in Russian culinary traditions. Often consumed during the summer months, the fermented beverage continues to enjoy widespread popularity both in Russia and abroad. However, medical experts warn that despite its reputation as a natural and traditional drink, kvass may not be suitable for everyone. According to endocrinologist and dietitian Svetlana Filatova, regular consumption can create health risks for people with certain conditions and may contribute to metabolic problems when consumed excessively. Who Should Avoid Drinking Kvass? Filatova advises people suffering from gout to limit or avoid kvass because it contains purines, compounds that can increase uric acid levels and potentially worsen symptoms of the disease.

Jean-Marc Sabatier on Emerging Viruses, Vaccines, and Alpha-Gal Syndrome

Interview with Jean-Marc Sabatier by François Cotard on emerging viruses

Interview with Jean-Marc Sabatier by François Cotard on emerging viruses

During a lengthy interview broadcast on alternative media platforms, Jean-Marc Sabatier shared his views on several current public health topics, including hantaviruses, the Ebola virus, and Alpha-Gal syndrome.

Hantaviruses Under Scrutiny

The interview first focused on hantaviruses, a family of viruses that can cause pulmonary syndromes or hemorrhagic fevers. Jean-Marc Sabatier noted that these viruses are generally transmitted through contact with the feces, urine, or saliva of infected rodents and are not easily spread from person to person.

According to Sabatier, Moderna’s development of an mRNA vaccine targeting certain hantavirus strains as early as 2024 raises questions, particularly because these viruses are considered to have limited pandemic potential. He also described several biological mechanisms associated with these infectious agents and discussed laboratory research involving pseudoviruses.

The speakers emphasized that, based on the information available to them, the number of reported cases in Europe remains limited and that the situation does not currently warrant major concern.

Ebola: Vigilance and Debate Over Vaccination Strategies

The second part of the interview addressed the Ebola virus, particularly the Bundibugyo strain, which is currently being monitored in Central Africa.

Jean-Marc Sabatier reviewed the biological characteristics of the virus, its high fatality rate under certain circumstances, and its modes of transmission, primarily through contact with bodily fluids. He stressed that Ebola outbreaks have historically been contained through targeted public health measures.

The two participants also discussed funding for vaccine research directed at this specific strain. They expressed skepticism about the possibility of large-scale vaccination campaigns being implemented if the virus were to spread beyond Africa.

In addition, several potential treatments were mentioned, including certain monoclonal antibodies and older medications such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, although their effectiveness remains a subject of debate within the scientific community.

Alpha-Gal Syndrome and Red Meat Allergy

The third topic concerned Alpha-Gal syndrome, a red meat allergy that can develop following bites from certain tick species, particularly the Lone Star tick, which is found primarily in North America.

Jean-Marc Sabatier explained that the condition results from an immune reaction to a sugar molecule known as galactose-α-1,3-galactose, which is present in most mammals but absent in humans.

During the discussion, the participants referred to various claims circulating on social media regarding Bill Gates’s alleged involvement in programs related to ticks or synthetic meat. They suggested that connections between these topics might exist, although no direct evidence was presented during the interview.

Ongoing Criticism of Public Health Institutions

Throughout the conversation, the participants expressed skepticism toward certain public health institutions, including the World Health Organization (WHO), regulatory agencies, and major pharmaceutical companies.

Jean-Marc Sabatier specifically criticized the development of mRNA vaccines and argued that dissenting voices face difficulties being heard within scientific and media circles. He stated that he himself has experienced a form of marginalization because of his views.

A Call for Caution

In conclusion, despite the concerns raised during the interview, Jean-Marc Sabatier encouraged listeners not to panic in response to new public health alerts. According to him, it is important to maintain a critical mindset, consult multiple sources of information, and closely monitor evolving epidemiological situations without resorting to alarmism.
