Ante una abarrotada sala La Riviera —1.800 personas, no había entradas disponibles desde meses antes— el trío norilandés Kneecap, un conjunto creado por dos alumnos gamberros y su profesor de gaélico irlandés en 2018, sacó partido de todo su repertorio, una furiosa combinación de rap, techno clásico, cultura rave y unas letras con mensaje que comparten rabia con el hip hop francés nacido en las banlieues de sus grandes urbes y al rock-punk clásico euskera. El cóctel funcionó; va a ser difícil vivir en los próximos meses otra actuación con tanta felicidad asalvajada.

Al cumplir Clint Eastwood 96 años el 31 de mayo, varios medios estadounidenses bucearon en declaraciones de su entorno, y encontraron una entrevista a su hijo Kyle, músico y compositor de jazz, realizada por France 3 a finales del pasado noviembre. En ella, hablaba sobre su padre y afirmaba guardar “muchos recuerdos entrañables de haber trabajado con él”. Y añadía: “Ahora está jubilado, tiene 95 años. Pero tuve la gran fortuna de poder colaborar con él en varias películas”. De repente, el mundo descubría que, tras Jurado Nº2, no habrá más películas de Eastwood. Clint había colgado las pistolas.

Tony Leung (Hong Kong, 63) enters the lobby of a Madrid hotel and brings with him an absolute sense of calm. The pace slows; you even get the impression the temperature has dropped slightly. Leung’s image in the film collective was sealed by his role in In the Mood for Love, Wong Kar-wai’s masterpiece that earned Leung the best actor award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival. A man anchored in melancholy, unable to confront his unfaithful wife or to declare his love to his neighbor. That introspection turned Leung into one of the coolest men on the planet.

On the first day of Cannes, artificial intelligence already sparked a debate between two jury members, Demi Moore and Paul Laverty. From that moment, the festival and the market running alongside it diverged in their reactions to the digital tool: while Cannes imposes limits on its use (even though one of its sponsors, which joined in 2026, is Meta, owner of Meta AI) and artists warn of its dangers, the market saw a rush of Chinese films made with AI and a handful of Western projects embracing its use. Filmmakers will be wary, but the industry has rushed to exploit AI.
