The Trump administration is giving Indiana more flexibility over how it decides to spend its federal grant money, the third state to receive such exemptions from the Education Department as it seeks to "return education to the states."

President Donald Trump's administration is further dismantling the Department of Education, moving oversight of special education and civil rights to other agencies.

These transfers mean that the bulk of the Education Department's functions have now been distributed across various other agencies
