Gene Shalit, longtime Today show movie critic, dies at 100

Beloved movie critic and arts reporter was known for bushy hair and mustache and affection for groan-inducing puns

Gene Shalit, a movie critic and arts reporter for the Today show over four decades who was known for his puffy hair, oversized handlebar mustache and affection for groan-inducing puns, has died. He was 100.

Shalit’s family announced the death Friday to NBC News, saying in a statement that he “passed away peacefully today after 100 years of an amazing life”.

O presidente norte-americano, Donald Trump, saiu a meio de uma entrevista durante o programa Meet the Press, na NBC, após ter feito alegações falsas de que a eleição presidencial de 2020 foi fraudulenta.

Durante a entrevista, realizada na passada sexta-feira, 5, Trump afirmou que a eleição para governador da Califórnia foi fraudulenta, e fez falsas alegações sobre fraude nas eleições de 2020, segundo o jornal “The Guardian”.

Trump afirmou que passados quatro dias “ainda nem começaram a contar os votos”, algo, que segundo a jornalista, é comum no processo eleitoral da Califórnia. As sondagens preveem uma disputa cerrada entre o candidato democrata e o republicano neste estado norte-americano.

O presidente norte-americano afirmou ainda que todos são corruptos, incluindo a jornalista e a sua estação de televisão.

Quando se tentou defender e fazer outras questões ao presidente, Trump referiu que ou a jornalista era “estúpida ou corrupta. Cai direitinho na armadilha deles com essa palhaçada. Sabe que as eleições são fraudulentas. A sua emissora sabe disso”.

Trump aproveitou ainda para fazer alegações sobre as eleições presidenciais de 2020, e quando a jornalista tentou fazer novas perguntas o presidente deu a entrevista por terminada.

The US president’s abrupt exit came during a tense exchange between himself and NBC’s Kristen Welker during a Friday interview in Wisconsin that aired on Sunday.
